MY APPROACH
-
COMMON ISSUES ADDRESSED IN THERAPY
The audacious women of color I serve want support addressing one or more of the following issues: anger, anxiety, childhood trauma, complex trauma, depression, feeling unfulfilled/unsatisfied with life, inner critic, life transitions, low self-worth, parent/child conflicts, people-pleasing tendencies, perfectionism, racial trauma, rage, self-sabotaging behaviors, Strong Black Woman/Superwoman persona, toxic/unhealthy relationships, unhealthy eating habits, and workplace stressors.
-
MY THEORETICAL ORIENTATION
I integrate a combination of the theories briefly described to help my clients prioritize their spiritual, physical, emotional, and mental health.
The application of spiritual principles and practices to the theories described is based on each client’s goals, belief system(s), requests, and level of comfort with such integration.
-
RELATIONAL CULTURAL THERAPY
I use RCT to help my clients process and unpack past and present relationships. This form of therapy empowers clients to process dis-connections, such as trauma, oppression, discrimination, marginalization, and other experiences that lead to isolation and a negative self-concept. I also use RCT to help my clients use their internal power, strengths, and capacity to heal and form healthy connections/relationships with God, themselves, and others.
-
COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY
I use CBT to help my clients understand how situations, thoughts, feelings/emotions, and behaviors are all interconnected. This form of therapy encourages my clients to use practical and spiritual self-help strategies/tools to release unhealthy/negative/faulty thinking patterns and to transform their mindset to align with the highest version of who God created them to be.
-
SOLUTION FOCUSED THERAPY
I use SFT to help my clients focus on what they can control in their lives instead of what they cannot. This form of therapy encourages my clients to use their personal strengths and internal power to set and execute clear, realistic, and achievable goals that emphasize self and soul-care and move them one step closer to thriving in their God-given freedom and liberation.
-
NUTRITION COACHING
I use nutrition coaching to teach my clients how food either helps or harms every aspect of their health. This form of coaching challenges my clients to understand their relationship with food and learn practical strategies to improve their mindset and adopt healthier eating habits as a lifestyle-NOT a diet. I also use nutrition coaching to help my clients create and execute a consistent plan for exercise/ intentional movement to help them reach their physical health goals and improve their spiritual, emotional, and mental health.
